Our main product line embraces a variety of compound refractive x-ray lenses (CRLs) used to focus and collimate hard x rays, and image objects using hard x rays. The lenses have been experimentally shown to operate in energy ranges from 4 to 80 keV, at focal lengths as small as 5 cm, with numerical apertures of 10-3 or better. These operational ranges can be further extended. Adelphi’s refractive lenses focus x rays in the same way as visible light lenses. Thus, unlike reflective optics, the lens is located in-line with the optical system. For imaging applications, the lenses yield high-resolution images independent of source size, allowing the use of greater source intensities. Our x-ray lenses, like the ones widely used in visible optics, serve as a simple tool for the x-ray experimenter and technologist. There are numerous applications for CRLs in a vast variety of industries. They can be used to collimate or focus monochromatic x-ray radiation; to filter a narrow linewidth of radiation from a broadband source, and most importantly, they offer the best imaging characteristics of any x-ray optic.
Also, be sure to check out information provided on this website describing how the lenses work, what lenses are available and a few of their applications. |
